Day 2 – Christchurch to Oamaru

Our second day in New Zealand started with a hearty breakfast, and I do mean hearty, followed by a cab ride back to Christchurch airport. No, we didn’t decide that we’d already had enough of New Zealand and wanted to go home. We needed to get back to the airport to pick up Bessie.

Bessie is the affectionate nickname we gave to our home on wheels for the next 8 days. Bessie is a luxurious 4 berth Maui Campervan, and is absolutely fantastic.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not much of a camper. However, with Bessie’s help, I don’t need to be. Everything we need Bessie has. Gas hob, grill, microwave oven, fridge, toilet and shower. You name it, Bessie’s got it covered.

Onwards now, down the eastern cost of the south island towards Oamaru.
