Today (19.10.16) is our penultimate day on the the south island. Today we said farewell to Bessie 😦
Our journey today involves leaving Timaru and heading to two different rental agencies at Christchurch airport. The plan was for us to get Bessie to the Hertz rental place at Christchurch airport and both of us sign the rental paperwork for our new ride. That didn’t quite pan out as planned due to very hefty parking restrictions at the airport.
So, I dropped Sheena off at the airport, and then made my way back to the camper van rental place along the road. Once at the camper van place the last things to do were to remove all of our luggage, and then give Bessie one last clean out before, tearfully, handing her back. Sniff!
Fortunately, I didn’t have to wait long for Sheena to appear with our new ride. She rolled up looking very suave and sophisticated in a very handsome Mazda 6. This will be our runaround for the next 24 hours or so, until we drop it off at Hertz in Picton.
So, with Bessie returned we set off for Kaikoura, and Sheena wouldn’t let me drive the Mazda ..!
